Sam was very well done, it just had it's problems like
every other movie. But in the end, there turned out to be too
many problems for me to recommend it. It's just one of those
times where you very badly want to like it for the emotional
sake of the character, but you can't because it just isn't
filling enough. This movie was very good but it just didn't
fill my plate.
there is something very positive I see in I Am Sam, and
that is the remarkable acting. Sean Penn, Dakota Fanning, and
Michelle Pfeiffer put on some of the most remarkable
performances I've seen in years! They were so good were able
to drive you to an emotionally attached level of gripping the
movie. The acting in I Am Sam is definitely it's best
quality. The performances were awe-inspiring.
the things that bugged me tremendously in this film was
enormous amount of advertising. Watching it was like watching
a feature-length commercial. I mean, thirty minutes of this
movie is dedicated to Starbucks, I HOP, Bob's Big Boy, and
Pizza Hut. Were talking one forth of the movie here, this
movie probably racked in more money for it's advertisers than
it did for itself at the box office.
let me ask you a question...Do you go to a movie to be
constantly annoyed and worried? My answer is: definitely not!
This movie sends you into a chaotic, self-absorbed, broken
world of no innocence; I don't think anyone wants to be
troubled by a movie, they go to enjoy peaceful entertainment.
I Am Sam is definitely not any type of peaceful
entertainment. It is reality, and reality is not always very
conclusion, I Am Sam is a realistic description of a
family's fight to stay together. Sean Penn, Dakota Fanning,
and Michelle Pfeiffer put on some of the most remarkable
performances I've seen in years! But it is also a walking
billboard; full of advertisement, a shallow and chaotic
disasterpiece, and above all things; enormously uncomfortable.
It is a masterpiece in terms of acting and direction, but
hardly that if your looking for a good time. I'd prefer
Rain Man over this any day.
