RATING CHANGE
(ON 5/23/2005): I have changed my original rating of Star Wars:
Episode II from 3.5 to 3 after a recent repeat viewing of it and
a following viewing of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. I'm
not as enthusiastic about its final act, although I have strong
admiration for the ambitious use of the "love-story" thread and the
CGI in the opening scenes. Not that it matters much, considering
this review is one of my earliest, and quite the representation of
8th-grade-writing.
I was smiling when I got out of
the theatre after seeing Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the
Clones, seriously! It was so good, and so amazing; the
"Star Wars" legacy definitely lives on. The special effects in this
movie, as well as all of the other "Star Wars" flicks, are what I
could go on and on about. I was watching them so intricately they
made up for any of the other flaws this film may have had. The only
thing that was less than average in the second installment of "Star
Wars" was the story, George Lucas could've improved the script in
this otherwise above-average film.
The special effects were amazing in Attack of the Clones,
just like all of the other "Star Wars" movies. I especially enjoyed
how they computerized Yoda, instead of him still being a puppet. The
whole city was done by computers and endless mind-blowing work, my
thanks definitely go out to all of those who worked on the special
effect in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. My
favorite scene that involved the wonderful special effects was one
where Anakin Skywalker and Obe-Won Kanobe are flying through the sky
in their pod-racer. All of the frames to paint, all of the scenes to
draw, the special effects in this film were the best I have seen,
probably ever.
As you probably know George Lucas has written, directed, and
birthed all of the "Star Wars" films; which is an honorable
achievement. All of the work he put in to Attack of the Clones
was brilliant, except for one thing. In my opinion, and mine alone,
the story was a bit week. It just was less detailed and
thought-provoking than all of the other "Star Wars" movies. No
offense to him, I think he's a wonderful man. But, in this case it
wasn't his best work.
The special effects, the acting; I loved all most everything
about Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. The story
was the only flaw in this brilliant masterpiece. Take your family;
this movie is great for old and young alike. Anyone will enjoy it!
This film was a true delight that warms the heart and soul!
