Lesbians! Masturbation! Nudity! Phone sex! Well it looks as if the gang is back for another two hours of good old American humor. This sequel to the 1999 hit American Pie, brings back tastes of the first as well as some new material.  While still immensely funny, this vulgar comedy doesn’t quite live up to the legacy of the original.

A year has passed since the last gathering of America’s favorite group of horny half-wits, and this time their perverted adventures lead to a vacation beach house. Having just completed their first year of college, the guys are very anxious to get down to some serious partying (no surprise there). Fans of the first film will, of course, realize that partying will most definitely include plenty of sex and drinking.  This sort of partying leads to many memorable scenes such as when Jason Biggs’ character, Jim, getting himself stuck to… “himself,” or my personal favorite, the lesbian scene.

Movies like this always seem to portray what really goes on when the parents aren’t around. The guys in this movie openly discuss sex and masturbation, and even provide each other with certain “tools” to fulfill these needs.  This movie definitely wouldn’t be suitable for children, and probably not for most younger teens.  But for adults, and mature teens, this movie is simply marvelous.

One of the great things about this movie is the large variety of characters.  Almost anyone watching this movie will almost instantly be able to relate to at least one person on the cast; whether it be the jock, the geek, the girl next door, or the hot foreign chick; this flick is guaranteed to belittle anyone.  One of the most memorable characters was Eugene Levy’s, Jim’s dad.  They could not have cast this movie more perfectly.  I am very impressed.

In the end, it’s a pretty darn funny movie, and well worth watching—despite the fact that it’s slightly worse than its predecessor.  With tons of laughs, and plenty of boner-popping action, I definitely recommend adding this one to your DVD collection. The third film in this series, American Wedding, will be coming out this August, and I am personally very excited about what promises to be a hilarious finish to the trilogy.
